Fortress

I love you, LORD;
you are my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety. (Psalm 18:1, 2 NLT)

Last night we started a new family devotional and this week was "God is our Fortress". We had to build a fort, which Jeff was really good at! We talked about how God is our protection, we don't have to fear when He surrounds us and He will give us good things if we will hide ourselves in Him. The kids loved the fort and even wanted to sleep in it last night (but somehow Conner ended up in our bed, again).

I couldn't help but think about it again as I was cleaning the fort up this morning. I thought...how much more fun everything is inside the "fortress". How there is nothing that can scare you inside the "fortress" (not even zombies, which are the current scariest thing in our house). How you can get special treats inside the "fortress" (the kids had candy and fruit snacks before bed). And how much peace there is inside the "fortress". If we can just remember to stay inside the "fortress" life will be so much easier!

I think I learned more than the kids. I can't wait to see what we will learn next week!

He Loves to Read

Quietly in his room, all by himself, making up the stories in his head. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a love of books!

What does this remind you of?

Papoo, of course.
Today was the end of our 21 day Daniel Fast and all I wanted to eat was a strawberry shortcake. And if my Papoo was here he would have gladly made me 10 of them. But thankfully he taught me how to make one too. I think he would be proud of the way it looks, but I'm sure he would say that his tasted better.
I don't know what he's doing up there in heaven besides praising our awesome God, but if you can praise Him in your own way, he is definitely making cakes for Him!

Let them praise the name of the Lord, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven. (Psalm 148:13 NKJV)

Our little singer

Tanner loves to sing with his daddy. Today they recorded their first song.  Tanner might not be the best singer in the world, but I’m pretty sure God was smiling down while he was singing his heart out. I know I was one proud mommy!

All alone

Yesterday Tanner was gone to a birthday party so Conner was all alone. So we played hot wheels, went to Mickey Dee's, then to the river to eat and throw rocks. We has such a great time, but we really did miss Tanner.

Happy New Year

I have been a terrible blogger mommy. So I am going to start over, too late to catch up now!

Last night we made some videos of the kids we can look back on in the years to come.

After about 20 out-takes this is what we got!
Quite funny and I'm sure they will be even funnier in about 10 years!

Hope everyone had a great year.
I promise to do better at blogging this year!
