Conner is my dare devil, tree climber. Although we don't have any tall trees to climb, he climbs as high as he can in our Crepe myrtle trees. And he is so proud of himself when he gets to the top!

Fortress

Last night we started a new family devotional and this week was "God is our Fortress". We had to build a fort, which Jeff was really good at! We talked about how God is our protection, we don't have to fear when He surrounds us and He will give us good things if we will hide ourselves in Him. The kids loved the fort and even wanted to sleep in it last night (but somehow Conner ended up in our bed, again).

I couldn't help but think about it again as I was cleaning the fort up this morning. I thought...how much more fun everything is inside the "fortress". How there is nothing that can scare you inside the "fortress" (not even zombies, which are the current scariest thing in our house). How you can get special treats inside the "fortress" (the kids had candy and fruit snacks before bed). And how much peace there is inside the "fortress". If we can just remember to stay inside the "fortress" life will be so much easier!

I think I learned more than the kids. I can't wait to see what we will learn next week!

Papoo, of course.
Today was the end of our 21 day Daniel Fast and all I wanted to eat was a strawberry shortcake. And if my Papoo was here he would have gladly made me 10 of them. But thankfully he taught me how to make one too. I think he would be proud of the way it looks, but I'm sure he would say that his tasted better.
I don't know what he's doing up there in heaven besides praising our awesome God, but if you can praise Him in your own way, he is definitely making cakes for Him!

Tanner loves to sing with his daddy. Today they recorded their first song. Tanner might not be the best singer in the world, but I’m pretty sure God was smiling down while he was singing his heart out. I know I was one proud mommy!

Today he had to draw a picture of something green and write about it. He wrote "I lik green salid. It iz good." I gave only minimal help. I am very impressed with his work in kindergarten.

Jeff and Matt took the boys camping Saturday night on the river. When I got home from work they were all packed up and ready to go. They had their sleeping bags, tents and swimsuits. I was panicking a little about Conner being out there, but I didn't really think they would stay all night. But when I woke up at 3 am and they weren't home, i went into full panic mode. I was texting and calling jeff and he finally responded that all was well and everyone was sleeping.
Jeff said the kids had a great time, but he didn't enjoy sleeping with his legs half way out of the tent on a beach towel. I'm sure he will do it all over again, all the boys have to do is ask.

4th of July week Vacation with the Carpenter Family.

We spent the week at Emerald Grande in Destin. We were in the pool most of the time, spent some time on the beach, held the birds, watched fireworks, went to the movie, ate, ate and ate! We had so much fun and I really wish we could live like that, but back to reality.

Jeff’s Birthday!

Ok, so it was June 4th, but at least we are getting to it. We celebrated first at the Mexican restaurant, the for breakfast with big fat cinnamon rolls, and then at “cooky in the face”!

Conner was scared of the fire and kept his eyes covered for most of the time that they were cooking. We had a great time celebrating!

Having difficulties getting my pictures to upload from my phone so, doing 2 different swimming lesson posts (which i just realized i hadn’t done) Conner cried for the first 3 days. During free time on the 3rd day, he had light bulb moment and started swimming like a fish. For the next 7 days he said “I ain’t gone cry” to Ms. Janet every time it was his turn. He did GREAT! We have definitely enjoyed swimming this summer.

The First Last Day of School

Hosford Pre-K 2010-2011

Last Thursday was Tanner’s last day of school. Not really the last day of School, but the last day Tanner went to school. It was fun in the sun day! Water slides, sprinklers, slides and popsicles.

We had an Awesome year of Pre-School. I was so impressed with what Tanner learned. I absolutely loved Ms. Debbie Brannan and so did Tanner. I wish we could do Pre-school all over again, but unfortunately we have to grow up and move on to Kindergarten.

Monday night it stormed at our house, so bad that it woke me up. I looked over in the bed at Conner and this is how he was sleeping. With his hands over his ears. I tried to take his hands off his ears and he said, “no mommy, that funder is too woud!” and back to sleep he went.

Memorial Day Weekend

What an Awesome weekend we had! We went to Big Kahuna’s (pictures are still on the water camera), went to the movies, shopped, went to the beach and on the boat! and it really didn’t seem like we were rushing around.

Tanner went down almost every slide at Big Kahuna’s. Conner would only go down a few.

They loved the beach. Tanner surfed! And Conner knocked down the sand castles that I built.

On the boat, Conner & I took a nap, while Tanner was reeling in fish all by himself.

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend and I can’t wait to do it again!

Last Monday, I got the kids out of school early and we headed to ZooWorld. I think it has been more than a year since we have been there. I think the kids favorite part was the playground, but mine was feeding the giraffe. It was really nice that I could take the boys off by myself, not too long and we will be throwing Malec in there!

I was in the kitchen, playing on the internet at around 11:00 at night. I thought the kids were surely asleep, but I hadn’t check on them in a while. So I walk through the living room and look down the hall and see this huge white mess. My mouth just fell open. I walked closer and started to scream, but saw little white foot prints leaving the bathroom, so I followed them. I was sure that they would lead me to Conner’s little powder covered smiling face, but no, Conner was sound asleep with no traces of baby powder anywhere. I thought surely it wasn’t Tanner. He is 5 years old, he wouldn’t do that. (It did cross my mind that Jeff could have done it, but he had been with me in the kitchen, and he wasn’t smelling baby powder fresh) I found Tanner in bed, white from head to toe. There was no denying that he had done it. His response, “It was an accident!” Really, an accident?! How does a whole container of baby powder accidently spill? So Jeff had to try it. Nope it takes a little effort to get the powder to come out. (but it did seem like fun when the powder poofed up into little white clouds.) I couldn’t even get on to him, because I was laughing so hard. We just sent him to bed and cleaned up the mess and will use this as blackmail one day!

We spent Mother’s Day on the river once again this year. We had so much fun! The kids played with their water guns, jumped off the boat about a million times, each of them caught a fish (conner caught a tree too), and we enjoyed some watermelon!

Spring Break at the Track

While we were at the beach spent an evening at the Track. Tanner drove the go-carts by himself. Conner flew an airplane. Then we all rode the big go-carts. And then a few more rides before our tickets were gone. Too bad I didn’t get a picture of the meltdown that occurred when we had to leave. But it looks like they had fun while we were there!

Beach Day

Tanner’s Spring Break was a few weeks ago. We spent the first part of the week at the beach. We did so much, but we spent most of the day on Monday on the beach. It was so much fun! I am so glad the boys are finally big enough to go down to the beach and play for a few hours. I hope to spend many more hours on the beach this summer!

We started t-ball on Saturday! This year we are the Preble-Rish Panthers. I was surprised at how much Tanner had improved this year. He didn’t play in the dirt one time! I have to say I think T-ball is my favorite sport.

Tanner learned to ride his bike without training wheels. It made me sad, because that means he is growing up.

He’s not great at it. He can only do one turn and then he pushes his bike back up to the top of the driveway and has one of us hold the bike so he can get back on it and start again.

Jeep trip to the Beach

A few Sundays ago, it was such a beautiful day that we decided to take Earl’s jeep to the beach.About half way there we stopped to put the top up because the wind was unbearahle, then when we got to St. George Island it was so foggy that you could barely see the water and it was Cold! The kids didn’t mind. They ran in the water and played in the sand. They loved it, I on the other hand, was miserable. We did get to eat at Boss Oyster in Apalach, so, I guess it was worth it.

This trip was “what memories are made of.”

Finally the kids are big enough to have a Road Trip! Yay!

This wasn’t a planned road trip, it was suppose to be a mini vacation/conference for Jeff, but last minute Jeff found out that he was gonna have to stay at work instead of speaking at the conference. Too bad I had promised the kids that we would go to Seaworld (or bribed them for a week with the reward of Seaworld.) Needless to say, we HAD to go to Seaworld.
So off we went. We left on Saturday morning, got to Orlando, went to Ikea (how can you go to Orlando without going to Ikea?), checked into the hotel, went to bed, got up at 7:00 and we arrived at Seaworld when the gates opened. We stayed there ALL day. From open til close! I really had a good time. Conner is still saying “those dolphins do flip”. I can’t wait to see where our next road trip will take us.

So I’m just gonna go with this. I don’t know what I missed, but I don’t know where else to start back blogging so I’m just going to do it.

We went to Zoinks back in Jan or Feb to celebrate Conner’s potty training. My kids love this place and always sleep well after going there.

He is still doing great pottying. He has about 3-4 accidents a week. And I don’t mind cleaning up a few times instead of changing diapers!

Christmas with the McSpaddins

We drove to MiMi and PaPa’s on Christmas day. About half way there it started to snow! (but all the snow pictures are on jeff’s computer) We opened a ton of presents, the boys and Chloe all played and we ate, and just had fun!

We spent Christmas Eve at Mickey’s eating and opening presents with the Larkins/Carpenter Family. The boys got too much stuff,, but loved every minute of ripping open paper. We had an awesome time hanging out with everyone!

Every year we take a family self portrait in front of the tree. They are never good, but I love them. The boys put out cookies and milk for Santa and Santa left the loot!

Christmas morning is always crazy and messy. This year was no exception. The boys got everything on their lists and lots more. We played with every toy and ate cinnamon rolls before getting ready to head to Nashville! We had an awesome Christmas this year and this isn’t all of it.

ok, so, this is what my life has been like….a rollercoaster of laundry, and school parties, and church programs, and shopping trips, and house cleaning, and putting up christmas decorations, and present wrapping, and potty training, and present opening, and more cleaning, and road trips, and fireworks, and work, and taking down christmas decorations, and …so needless to say blogging hasn’t happened for a while, but i’m back! I don’t know how often i will post because life must go on.

We had a wonderful Christmas. We did a ton of stuff this December. I will try to show some highlights!

November Wrap Up

ok since I was an awful blogger in November, I’m gonna put all these pictures together on one post.

one day, just me and the boys headed to the junior museum. they boys loved it because they knew where all the animals were and what was coming up next. and they are big enough to walk most of the way too! conner loved the wolf and called all of the animals after it a wolf. tanner like the bob cat. this was the first time we really have gotten to see it up close. what an awesome day

we finished up soccer and we only won one game, but the kids had fun! hopefully next year tanner will actually kick the ball instead of just running around wherever the crowd is. conner even got to get out there a few times.

We got to have Thanksgiving lunch with Tanner at school. Tanner took pictures with 2 of his “girlfriends” Gabrie and Kallan.

Fair time!!! We finally made it to the fair. Tanner got to ride lots of rides and Conner was getting very upset because he couldn’t ride, so we rode the fairest (Ferris) wheel (derek was scared to death) and then we found some rides for conner! we had a blast!

Preschool had their first performance as “5 fat turkeys” at the heritage day program. They were precious! (i’ll try to upload the video)

After the program we went out for the booths. The boys had fun painting t-pees, shooting the bow, milking cows, making headbands, making butter, and eating lots of good stuff.

What a busy month, and that was just part of November. I’m scared at how busy December is going to be.

Tanner dressed up as Captain America at school and Nate was Wolverine. They got to be in the costume parade. After the parade was an assembly for Red Ribbon Week. Mr. Day, the principal, dressed up and did a rap song. After all that they got to play for a little while before their party. They even let Conner participate in the party!

Tanner’s Super Hero Party

Tanner had a superhero party this year. Some of the kids dressed up and some made capes and masks while at the party. We had “fantastic fish and fries” and “Punch” for our food. The kids jumped in the bouncer and played with the bay blades (i think that’s what they are called). Tanner loved all of his presents and has played with them all for a week! Thank you everyone for making Tanner’s 5th birthday day Super!

We started the day off with pan”cakes”. Our birthday tradition.

Then Tanner had a little party at school with his class.

we had a great time at goat day this year. the boys got to pet the goats, of course, they milked a cow, jumped and slid on the bouncers and rode on the train. we also went over to the pioneer settlement, my favorite part. they made “twirly birds”, watched the tractor parade, and watched the cannon fire. goat day was fun, as always!

We played our first soccer game last thursday. Jeff was out of town so we had Coach Coxwell coaching the Orange Crush (didn’t have our jerseys yet). Needless to say we lost. We only got close to our goal one time. And I hate to say it, but Matt was the coach of the other team. Hopefully we will get better, we can’t get much worse!

Tanner had fun, but was tired afterward. I wish I could say that he was laying on the ground because he had been running so hard and fell down, but that wasn’t the case. He was just laying down while the game was going on for a little rest. Oh, well, I doubt he will be a professional soccer player when he grows up.

The kids in pre-k do. They had color day about 2 weeks ago to help them learn them. The kids from Hosford came over on the bus to Bristol pre-k, so we met them there. They made fruit loop necklaces, had snow cones, blew bubbles, played in colored foam, and played games with colored balls and blocks.

But for some reason Tanner, Nate, & Conner didn’t hardly do anything but ride tricycles. I think they liked it because it was on a “race car track”.

We saw a few of our friends from church there too. Chelsea is in the middle on the bottom row. Ashton is in the top right corner. And i really don’t know who the little girl on the right is, she just kept asking me to take her picture and posing for me, ain’t she cute!

They all seemed to have a good time and they know all the colors of the rainbow!

Tuesday before last was family reading night at school along with the book fair. The kids were asked to dress up as superheros. We bought some books and had some popcorn and headed Home for our own family reading night!

I can’t believe I am the mother of a 5 year old.

Tanner is an amazing kid. He is very laid back, he just goes with the flow (like his mommy). He loves music and sings all the time (like his daddy). He is smart and funny and pretty good (most of the time). He is a great big brother. He really loves his best friend, Nate-Nate.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for Tanner!

we went fishing a few weekends ago. we caught some trigger fish and a snapper. we weighed them in for the fishing rodeo. The boys had a great time! thanks papa earl.

Soccer Practice

Last Thursday was our first soccer practice. Jeff is the coach and that makes me laugh because Jeff knows nothing about soccer, but no one else does either so it’s ok. We played some scrimmage games and we weren’t very good. :( Hopefully we will get better and beat Matt’s team!

The highlight of practice was the babies. Malec and Molly! I think they could pass for twins. (molly belongs to mark and erin vickers)

and no, conner is not on the soccer team, offically, but you come try to tell him he can’t be out there.

Nate Nate finally has his baby brother.

Malec Seab was born today, September 25th at 1:26.

He was 8lbs 9oz and 20 1/2 in.

He is so Beautiful. Perfect. Healthy.

Honoring Papoo, Again!

At the ballgame last night, the Bulldog Club honored Papoo for his dedication to Liberty County High School Sports. They presented Mamoo with a plaque at half time.

Papoo played football for Liberty Co. starting in the 8th grade, and from what I hear he was Awesome! I think he may have gone to every football game from the time he graduated until he passed away. He never missed anything that his kids or grandkids played in for sure. He loved all the sports. He and Mamoo would go to volleyball games, softball games and track meets even if they didn’t know any of the kids playing, just because they love Bulldog sports! He was most know for the cakes that he baked for any fundraiser or playoff hospitality room or just anytime one of the teams wanted one. He was a very active member of the Bulldog Club and always said “It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.”

Papoo you are truly missed by all!

Today my little wild man turn 2!

I think he is the wildest, smartest, cutest, funniest, most hard headed, most loving, did i say wildest, 2 year old I know!

He loves to get in the bath tub at various time throughout the day and he is so silly in there!

He can climb on everything! He can climb up the rock wall at the park all by himself. (when tanner is at school of course)

We turned his baby bed into a toddler bed, but he won’t sleep in it. He would rather sleep on the fire truck couch. I don’t care as long as he’s in his room and not in our bed.

He loves to swim. Swimming at night with Daddy is the best!

Animal Kingdom

During our Vacation we went to Animal Kingdom. Conner loved Tigger! My favorite was the Nemo Show (the best thing at any disney park), Tanner’s favorite was the dinosaur ride and Jeff’s favorite was went we were riding the tram back to the car. HAHA! There were no lines, but it was still hot! We had a few melt downs throughout the day. All in all it went well and we can’t wait to go back to see Mickey Mouse!

Disney Vacation Days 1…2…and 3!

We went to Disney World with the whole McSpaddin family a few weeks ago. Everyone had a great time, except for Conner, he got sick. (I think everytime we go out of town he has a fever, but this time it was an ear infection.) But he was a trooper. We spent the first day at the pool. We swam and played volleyball and ran off all the other families. HaHa! The next day we rode EVERY ride at Magic Kingdom. It was great. There were no waits longer than 10 minutes, but it was hot. We closed the place down. At 10pm it is no longer the “happiest place on earth”! The third day we hit the other pool and DownTown Disney. We were exhausted but didn’t stop there.
