my papoo

forever, for always, no matter what.

front cover

i’m still at a loss for words. papoo passed away thursday evening very suddenly. he had gone fishing with my brother on tuesday and to marianna with mamoo and mama on wednesday (funny story when you have an hour to laugh). he had recently been diagnosed with cancer that had spread to multiple places. he’d had several days of radiation and 3 chemo treatments a few weeks back. thursday night he passed away peacefully at calhoun-liberty hospital, just like he had hoped for,

papoo was such a huge part of my life. he had been at everything i have ever done since i was born. i was his favorite grand-daughter! he was so proud of his grand children and he wasn’t afraid to tell us. he would do anything i asked him to do, at anytime. no matter what it was.

5

what he loved even more than his grandchildren were his great grand children. he loved tanner d., nate-nate and hop-hop. papoo was hop-hop’s favorite too., the first name he ever said was papoo and he calls him when he wakes up every morning.

 12

papoo called us EVERY day at 11:00 to “check on those boys” and ask :yall want to go eat?” about 3 out of 5 days a week we would go eat lunch with them. man am i gonna miss those lunches.

fun 013

there are so many other things i’m gonna miss, but i know without a doubt that papoo is in a better place and we will meet again someday! but until then we will enjoy all the memories and retell all the stories and try to love as much as papoo did.

thank you to everyone who has called, brought food, kept a kid or 2, sent a card or flowers or just said a prayer for us. we truly are blessed to have friends and family like you!

please continue to keep our family in your prayers for the next few months. we are really gonna need it.

Oil Spill

Last weekend we went down to Destin and had to go check on the oil spill. These pictures are in South Walton Co. (seaside, grayton beach…) There are small tar balls on the beach, about the size of quarters and smaller. Daddy was allowed to put up a barrier of GeoHay along some of the beach, to keep the tar balls from going too far up on the sand.

Last week they also tried out some of their products in the water and guess what worked the best, Hay!

The large oil slicks still haven’t come in close enough to shore for them to really be able to use the hay, but I’m sure it won’t be long. They are also trying to come up with some way to get the tar balls off the beach. Hopefully the oil will stay off shore so we can still enjoy the beautiful gulf!

(oh, yeah conner and yaya caught a crab)

conner singing

for about 2 weeks conner kept singing something everytime he would get on the stage or pick up a guitar and i couldn’t figure out what it was. but i finally did the other day at swimming lessons. he was singing  “oh happy day”. i love to hear him sing it! he wakes up in the morning singing it. i must be doing something right!

Papoo and Mamoo’s Pool

The boys really like swimming at Papoo’s house, because he has a diving board. They do crazy jumps like the spider man (jumps they just make up) and cannon balls. Conner wants to jump and swim like the big boys too. Jeff even did a flip and didn’t hurt himself.

thanks for letting us swim mamoo and papoo!

conner swimming to the ladder in the deep end.

it is so scary to think about him swimming in the deep end, even though the whole pool is over his head.

he did it!!!

swimming lessons 2010

This is Conner’s first year of swimming lessons with Ms. Janet. He started on monday. Jeff had to take him, cause I had to work. He cried! Jeff said he cried the most on the “get away ms. janet’s”. Yesterday was “no more crying day” if you cried you got 2 turns. It was much quieter and Conner didn’t cry (much). Today he cried when it wasn’t his turn. He kept calling “janet” between his turns, so he got a few extra turns. After swimming lessons he is exhausted. Today we ate lunch in b-town and he fell asleep on the bridge. I really think he wouldn’t drown if he fell in the pool. Thanks Ms. Janet!
